Dr. Henry A. McKinnell, Ph.D.

Henry (Hank) McKinnell retired as chairman and chief executive officer of Pfizer, Inc, in 2006, after originally joining in Tokyo in 1971.  Over the years, he held positions of increasing responsibility around the world, including service as president of Pfizer Asia, based in Hong Kong.

 

Dr. McKinnell is chairman of the Accordia Global Health Foundation, an organization dedicated to fighting infectious diseases in Africa.  Dr. McKinnell is lead director of the board of directors of Moody's Corporation and serves on the Boards of Directors of Emmaus Medical and Optimer  Pharmaceuticals. He serves as Senior Advisor to Toyota Motor Corporation's International Advisory Board and the Thomas H. Lee Private Equity Partnership.  He is a director of the Medal of Honor Foundation, the Royal Shakespeare Company of America, a life trustee of the Japan Society, and a member and former chairman of the Stanford University Graduate School of Business Advisory Council. He is chairman emeritus of the Business Roundtable, the Connecticut Science Center, the  Pharmaceutical Research Manufacturers Association, the Food and Drug Law Institute, and the Medical Device Manufacturers Association.  Dr. McKinnell also served as vice chairman of the World Economic Forum and as a member of the WEF Foundation Board of Trustees.  He served on the  President's Advisory Council on HIV/AIDS.

 

He holds a bachelor's degree in business from the University of British Columbia, and MBA and PhD degrees from the Stanford University Graduate School of Business.
